Information on the forthcoming roles of Housing Energy Advisers (HEA) and Community Energy Advisers (CEA)

The next stage of the Government's Home and Energy Saving (HES) strategy is targeting £6.5 billion of spending over three years to British homes. Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband described the strategy as the 'Great British Refurb'. This will be a national revolution in improving the efficiency of household energy use and in the reduction of carbon emissions; the strategy also aims to target the serious and pressing issue of fuel poverty.

As part of the delivery of this strategy, which will involve the extension of existing programmes such as the Carbon Energy Reductions Target (CERT) and Community Energy Savings Programme (CESP), there will be a requirement for 'Housing Energy Advisors' (HEA) and 'Community Energy Advisors' (CEA). Only Qualified Domestic Energy Assessors and Home Inspectors will be permitted to undertake the additional training to become a HEA or CEA. Funding will be available for this training from the Learning Skills Council.

CEA Ltd in conjunction with our sister company Domestic Energy Assessors Ltd are already delivering energy inspection and energy efficiency advice services across a large number of local authorities, under a number of programmes such as CERT, CESP and Decent Homes initiatives; so we are well placed to support assessors in this forthcoming opportunity.

We will be offering training for the new HEA and CEA qualifications and subsequent work opportunities once qualified. We have planned to begin this training week commencing 27th April subject to the qualification award being finalised and available from our awarding body. We are currently using our existing and extensive knowledge to develop first training programmes for the HEA and CEA.

To find out where training will be available and if you would like to register your interest for training, and be kept informed of developments please go here.

We are also recruiting for further DEA's/H.I.'s to join our energy assessment team in the following areas: Greater Merseyside-Birmingham-Greater London-South Coast.

We will be providing commercial training and qualification through www.cea-epc.co.uk to existing DEA’s and H.I.’s. If you are involved in the conveyance process and would like further information on our services please go here.
